Grab a few goodies to go, and chat up a stranger as you wait in line at the local corner store. Early electronic cash registers were very limited in capability. In 1979 Gene Mosher's Old Canal Cafe in Syracuse, New York was using software written by Mosher that ran on an Apple II. It took customer orders at the restaurant's front entrance and printed the order in the kitchen. In 1986 Mosher used the Atari ST computer and NeoChrome paint software to create and market the first graphical touchscreen software. Today, these types of systems are used in all kinds of retail establishments including supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, stadiums, and casinos.
