Electric Kettle

The rising sound of an onslaught of steam bubbling up in the hot kettle's chamber can chase away the blues, and bring you back down to earth with the warm feeling of a hot cup of calming tea tingling your tongue and toes as it goes down into your waiting belly. A kettle is probably the most ancient kind of metal cooking utensil. The word kettle originates from the Latin word catillus, which in various contexts is translated as bowl, deep dish, or funnel. Kettles often resemble teapots, but are used to boil water, not to brew tea. In 1938, in Australia, electrically heated chrome-plated steel kettles were popular only in the city areas as electricity in the country at the time was rare. The cord was cotton insulated, which was safe, when new. As it became worn it would expose the coil and electrocutions would occur.
